Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan and set aside.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture in three additions, alternating with the buttermilk, and mixing until just combined. Stir in the vanilla extract and chocolate chips.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the surface with a spatula.
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before removing it from the pan and transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely
